Sourced by Joseph O'Brien for £62,000 at the Goffs Premier Yearling Sale - O'Brien being a fan of the sire, having already trained Galway Festival and Gr.3 winner Waitingfortheday.
The colt is the FULL BROTHER to Vincy - an impressive RPR 101 winner at the Curragh on 3rd career start, before being sold to Hong Kong.
That was in August 2017. The same year the dam's next foal, a yearling full brother by Elzaam made just 20,000 Euro at auction - a year later the next foal, another full brother, made just £29,000 (neither successful). To fetch so little they were very modest physical types.
However, our colt made £62,000 which underlines his physical appeal - in short, he's in a different league to those and the first quality yearling the dam has produced since Vincy. As such he looks very good value.
Classy Choice is a slow maturing type, one for the backend at 2-y-o, who will come into his own next year as a 3-y-o. What we do this year will be with laying the foundations for next year in mind.
Being a backward sort, Joseph has recommended gelding to help focus his mind and that has gone smoothly.
In his latest update the trainer reports that Classy Choice continues to progress and they like what they see so far.
Everything in place. He looks a lovely type who we hope he will take his owners on a thrilling journey with a rising star of the training ranks at the helm.
